This early octagonal banjo was inspired by the antebelum era photo. made entirely out of reclaimed timber, the octagonal pot was made out of cedar from a Victorian chest of drawers and the neck is mahogany from an Edwardian bed frame. All the hardware is hand made and the hooks are made from nails. The aim was to make a banjo as close to the one in the photo. Lots of ageing techniques and a meticulous use of hand tools was used to give the antique look and feel I was after.
